Everest View Trek Itinerary

Details Outline

Lukla is the main starting point for treks to Everest. When it's busy from March to November, flights from Kathmandu might go to Manthali Airport instead of Lukla. If you're catching the early morning Lukla flight during these months, we'll pick you up from your hotel around 12:30 am and drive you for about 5 hours to Manthali Airport. Then, it's a quick 20-minute flight to Lukla.

Or, you can skip the long drive and flight by chartering a helicopter directly from Kathmandu to Lukla. It costs around 550 USD per person when five people share the ride.

In the months of December, January, February, June, July, or August, you can usually fly straight from Kathmandu to Lukla. After breakfast, we'll take you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for a short 40-minute flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla.

Once you're in Lukla, your trek begins. You'll start by walking downhill about 200 meters to cross a cool suspension bridge over the Thado Koshi River. Along the way, you'll see the impressive Mt. Kusum Kanguru. After that, you'll pass through a cute little Buddhist village called Ghat before reaching Phakding. It's a short and enjoyable walk on the first day, which helps your body get used to the altitude. When you arrive in Phakding, we'll arrange a visit to some nearby monasteries for you to explore.

We've got a big day of hiking ahead of us. We'll kick things off early in the morning, walking along the northern side of the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, we'll cross a few suspension bridges, including one named after Hillary. The trail will lead us through lush forests until we arrive at a charming Sherpa village called Monjo.

Next up, we'll reach the Sagarmatha National Park Check Post, where we'll take care of our permits. Then, we'll trek through a thick forest, where you'll get your first glimpse of majestic Mt. Everest. But we're not stopping there; we'll keep on trekking until we reach Namche Bazaar, a famous Sherpa town often called the doorway to Everest.

After reaching Namche Bazaar, you'll have climbed quite a bit, so it's a great time to let your body adjust to the altitude. The town offers plenty of things to do, like exploring Wi-Fi-connected cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, and gear stores, or grabbing a drink at one of the local pubs.

You can also check out the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center or take a hike to the nearby Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Khunde. For breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, we'll trek up to the Everest Hotel.

After spending a day acclimatizing, we'll head back to our lodges to rest up and get ready for the next day's adventure.

As we go, the trail goes downhill, crossing the Dudh Koshi River and passing through thick pine forests until we reach Tengboche monastery. Then, we'll keep going to a meadow with lodges. From Tengboche, you'll see the stunning Ama Dablam peak.

In the morning, we'll leave Tengboche and make our way back to Namche Bazaar. The path takes us through thick forests where you might spot some wildlife like pheasants, musk deer, mountain goats, or even a rare snow leopard if we're lucky.

As we continue, we'll navigate some steep and winding slopes. Along the trail, you'll see colorful prayer flags and traditional chortens. Don't forget to snap some pictures as we enjoy views of Everest and the backside of Lhotse.

Once we arrive back in Namche Bazaar, we'll head to our lodges to rest up.

Once we arrive in Lukla, we'll freshen up at our hotel and take it easy for a while. In the evening, you can celebrate the success of your trek. After all, you've had the chance to see the tallest peak in the world!

Once your trek is finished in Lukla, you'll fly back to Kathmandu or Manthali, depending on the time of year. If you're trekking in March, April, May, September, October, or November, you'll likely fly to Manthali first, and then it's about a five-hour drive to Kathmandu. But if you're trekking in other months like December, January, February, June, July, or August, you'll fly directly from Lukla to Kathmandu.

If you'd rather skip the Lukla-Manthali-Kathmandu route, you can join a group of four others and book a helicopter. It'll cost around 550 USD per person.

Once you're back in Kathmandu, you're free to spend your time however you like.
